Just Dumber Than ****

 I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I'm to point we had so many left-arounds and ate them so many days, I am hoping for a gumbo or an étouffée, perhaps a brisket or something different for Christmas. 

And as I posted on Sunday, I am done with the Christmas shopping....All on line. 

Then, the next 3 weeks will seem like a marathon for the faculty at every school in America....Kids all hopped up for Christmas.....Then again, this is the " Turn in your damn term papers"( What was I thinking having to read that mess....) and then the assassinations lesson. 

Last night I did the lesson on the assassination of William McKinley in my dreams. It was like I had done it yesterday, not the last time 15 years ago... 

No, today's blog is about a story I read in the Wall Street Journal.  

The University of California is all upset that the kids at their university cannot do simple math. 

Now Cal or Berkley as is often called is a pretty elite school, it's hard to get into Cal. 12% admissions rate, 1415 average SAT score....

Hell, I could have told you this 20 years ago.

I discovered when I started quizzing my AP/Honors class about the multiplication times tables. 

God forbid they do anything about the 3's. And many had trouble with the 3x's table.......

So, in the middle of Economics, we re-learned, or actually learned how to add, subtract, multiply, divide.  I was shocked at how many kids couldn't do that. 

All without a calculator. 

Lets face it, most of you will never use algebra or calculus in your every day life....( My wife does, she actually uses calculus,  physics when she works.....Yeah, I married a Nerd. Yeah, I like nerdy chicks, always have like a girl in a pair of glasses.......They'll happily go with you to the Royal Armory in Leeds England to view the new exhibit on the English Civil War.)

But simple math? 

Yes.... 

No, in 2025, I am not shocked. 

I read where the Gen Z kids realize that their futures are not that good, why try?  And Gen Alpha literally can't read......

I'm worried about the future folks.......It ain't looking good...
