Signed " Upset in Buna"

I get these from time to time. I think they made an e-mail account just to write me, and to be honest, I found it in the "promotional" of gmail yesterday.

It seems I upset some "good Baptist" yesterday. ( I think that might be an oxymoron .....someone will get all irate about that...)

I was pretty nice. I did some theology, and not hardcore complicated stuff either.

I have a friend I went to seminary with who thinks "Heaven's Gates/Hell's Flames" is just flat out heresy. ( He's MDiv, MTh, PhD, all in analytic theology....his doctorate is from St. Andrew's in Scotland... I read his dissertation and it's good, scary good....He teaches college now. )and he doesn't get upset on stuff too much, but he loses it on this particular play.

Now, once again, if you are going to "condemn me to hell" or get all upset about stuff, just stop reading the blog, or better yet, unfriend me.

Life is too short people.

You know, we really don't know what the afterlife is like.

I wonder if we will even understand who or what we are afterwards. If memory is erased, well you know, you are no longer, "you."

Oh I know, we read about street of gold and jewels everyplace, but I'll be honest, that doesn't impress me. I'd just as soon have a small house in the woods, or overlooking some Irish type moor.

But then, maybe we are too busy at the feast. I'm hoping they'll relax that kosher business so we can have bacon, shrimp, and crab.....

But please, don't get so upset reading this blog you feel you got to " get angry over it."

Meanwhile in South Jasper County

So, it seems that a play, mostly geared to youth is presently being playing at a local religious facility.

This of course is Heavens's Gates/Hell's Flames.

It's been "carried over" as one person put it.

Well, I am sure.

The question is this.

Does God really want people to scare the hell outta you into heaven?

I know people who have seen the show, who later after they made a conversion at the conclusion of the play question if they were actually saved?

Several I know who were converted either made another conversion, or they question if they were actually "saved."

Let's discuss the theology behind the play.

In one scene there was a boy, whose father said that there is time to
attend to church and give your life to god. Then the boy and the
father died and they were both judged to hell, the father because he
hadn't given his life to Jesus and the boy simply because he believed his dad?!?!?

Is it really the boy's fault if he believed his father? Is the boy to
blame? Do we believe that God of Love will punish and torture this boy forever? The boy didn't even think he did anything wrong, because
his father told him to do so and without better judgement, the boy did
what almost anyone of us would have done in that age: he listened his
parents, in this case the father.

In the play I saw the boy was young, under what we would call, the "age of accountability."

We sending kids to hell now?

And the play also included a scene where were a non-believing mother
and a teenage girl, who had her name written on the book of life.
After they died, the Satan and his demons took the mother into the
depths of hell and torture. The girl sobbed "mother" for few times,
but when Jesus came, she suddenly started to smile and was happy.

How happy you going to be if you find out a loved one is going to hell forever...

Satan according to the Bible, but the play says, is not in hell, Satan is not the God of Hell, as we have carried from Greek Mythology. They had god's of Hades.  It is not Satan that throws people into hell Matt 10:28.

Look, the play I saw did not talk about grace, or love, or mercy.

This is just some of the problems I found with the play.

If your child is "saved" through one of these plays, you may want to sit down and talk to them about what on earth they think.

This "scare the hell" out of people...well, is that actual conversion?

Or a way to boost baptismal numbers? Get 'em dunked, put them on the roles, maybe they'll tithe?

Talk to your kids folks if you're concerned. See if they understand what they are doing.

A Little Racy This Morning

Okay, I shouldn't go here, I am getting old, and well, I do not want to wind up in hell, but I could not help thinking about this.

I did not watch the Oscar's. Don't care, don't care. I have Netflix, have not seen Roma, nor Black Panther, care neither about art-flix, nor super-heroes.

But I did watch the song sung by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. ( Why can't we have normal names now? Like Brenda Lee, or Patsy Cline....)

I am thinking Cooper might be "playing" Gaga.

If he'd asked her " Let's go" up on stage in front of God and everybody, she'd dropped her drawers ( if she was wearing any) and asked..." Which way you want me?"

Okay, my reversion back to being 13 years old is over....

You're In The Army Now.....Ladies!?!?

You're in the army now, you're not behind a plow, you'll never get rich......

So, a Federal Judge, here in Texas has declared  that the Male-only Selective Service, AKA the military draft is unconstitutional.

The judge has ruled that with women now in combat roles, they too should be required at 18 years of age to register for the draft.

Why not?

I have several readers of the blog who are veteran's the Army, Marines, Air Force, heck, I still have active duty folks in the Navy( female) who read the blog.....

If we are going to be equal, then we need to have everyone sign up for the Selective Service at age 18.

I know, I have in the past when it was part of my "job description" at the Buna High School was to register 18 year olds for Selective Service, I actually had females who tried to register. Even had some fill-out the cards and send them in, only to get a letter back explaining why they do not have Selective Service for women.

They draft women in Israel into their Army ( The IDF) and I remember a guy in university who dated a girl from Israel. He always said, " My girlfriend has more combat experience than your girlfriend." ( I think they married) ....Anyway, she had been wounded in action by a mortar round.

But in the past, the courts said that because they were not used in combat, females were excused from registration.....

So, if you have a daughter, get ready, it could be coming.

Pretty Much Says It All

You know, we worry about stuff that doesn't really matter sometimes and in this day and age, I wonder just how much more this hatred of one another will continue before we just come totally apart as a nation.

The British historians, Classicists, are wondering how much more time they have as a United Kingdom, they're are as divided as we are.

I don't know, not really much of a Calvinist, but perhaps this is foreordained.

But perhaps, we need to start worrying more this way, than how we can destroy someone not in our "tribe."

Story Time From Uncle Govteach

In light of the charges placed against the owner of the New England Patriots, "Solicitation of Prostitution. " I am reminded of this story.

True story.

There was a very 'well to do" hotel in Beaumont that no longer is in business. It was "the" hotel for a long time in this area.

I had a friend in college who applied for a night shift desk clerk job at the hotel. Hours she could work, and the pay was reasonably good.

The interview went well, and after the nuts and bolts of the interview were complete, the manager asked if she was " available" for other things?

She did not understand.

The manager explained, we have girls on call, full-time, to 'service' our customers.

However, sometimes they get busy and can't make all the "calls in a timely manner."

"Would you be willing to step in as a substitute for these ladies?"

It took my friend a second to figure out what they were talking about, she stood up, shook the manager's hand and told him, "Thank you for your time, I'll seek work elsewhere."

This was the 1970s. I can't imagine what goes on today.....

That said, I am to the point it needs to be legalized, taxed and the worker's health checked from time to time.

Man, We All Going to Hell

And not the good part as described in Dante's Inferno. ( You know, I have read the Inferno, the Paradiso, but never the Purgatorio. I may need to read it.....)

But you Texans have been sinning.

Wallethub has turned out its' states that sin the most.

The report considered variables including violent crimes, sex offenders and hate-crime incidents per capita; number of mass shootings; thefts per capita; binge-drinking prevalence; shares of obese adults, adult smokers, coffee drinkers and marijuana users; casinos per capita; teen birth rate; average time on adult entertainment sites; share of non-exercising adults; and volunteer rate.

Texas is in the "Top 5" of sinning....In at number 4.

And then, apparently to atone for our sinful nature, Texas is in the "Top 10" of church attendance and prayer.

Texas is number 10.

Who is the state with the least sin?

Vermont.

Who is the state with the least church attendance?

Vermont. ( There are Congregationalist, and American Baptist, in Vermont. You Southern Baptists would not recognize the Baptist service in New England. The pastor who stands up to deliver the sermon might be a woman. )

There is a correlation there in Vermont....But I am not sure what it is....

Anyway, it confirms me not going to church.....

I Wouldn't Know Where Anyway?

I understand we are somewhat limited in a rural area of East Texas, especially Southeast Texas, and once again, we have always been limited in well, just about anything.

If you are not doing so, you need to be reading Mitch Keeler's blog.

Often thought provoking, and while I personally don't agree with, nor would I write on certain areas, his blogs are always well written, and often thought provoking.

His last two blogs covered people and their attendance at church.

As I have made clear, while I am a person of faith, I no longer attend church.

The first of the last two blogs covered the "social" aspect of church attendance.

The blog was true and to me hit home. I no longer go to church because, well, I don't feel comfortable in the denomination I grew up in.

As I posted in the comment section of Mitch's blog, I no longer have anything in common with these people.....and the sermons, well, they are boring. Or they are veiled political speeches......Or, when you preach from one of the Pauline Letters for 20 Sundays straight, well, at some point you need to realized there are 66 books in the Bible. Paul wrote 13-14 depending on your theological view of Hebrews....

And today's music in church? It's the same sound as the Top 40 station down the FM dial. Say what you want, most contemporary Christian music is stolen from some other sound.......For a while there were Christian hip-hop artists. Perhaps there still is???

I know, I have nothing in common with these people. What would I talk about in small talk? My theology and doctrine have changed.  I went to seminary, I say to myself listening to a sermon, "Preacher, you can do better. "

But fewer people are attending church in America. Fewer are going for the aspect of socialization.

And then in Mauriceville, there are very few Protestant choices.

Baptist, Pentecostal......or some non-denominational form.....The Methodist Church has not re-opened since Harvey.

You think there would be just big Pentecostal type or one big Baptist type church, but there is so much of a disagreement, theological, social, personality clash, every town in several different churches of these denominations. Some of it because people "feel comfortable" in that church.

But go to church just for the social aspect? Yes, of course, and while most or many say they go for Jesus, many go because it is their "club." Their ' group' and look forward to going....

Now, don't be inviting me to church, don't tell me your "church is different."

There are people who go for the "social aspect." There are people who go to that church because they're all of one political belief.

No, I can see someone saying something to me after reading the blog. I have some views that are not very 'Baptist" and certainly not very "Pentecostal."

I'll just talk to Jesus on my own.

It Just Doesn't Stop

You know, you get to that point ......I guess we all do.

It is pretty much inevitable.

Just found an obituary for a friend I went to school with, played in band with, and had recently friended on Facebook.

This is 4 people in the last 2 weeks I know either through Vidor Schools or Lamar who have passed away.

All of these people are within a year of my age.

Then my Mother called and told me about a cousin of mine who has been place in hospice in the last 24 hours.

I know I've been feeling pretty crappy as far as my back and joints, and I know this is from a combination for stuff....including just getting old.

To be honest, I am not ready to go. I still want to see the Highlands of Scotland. New Zealand. Nova Scotia and stay longer. Maybe Hawaii?  Maybe Norway?

I don't know. Perhaps it is not foreordained for me to go to some of these places?

The old "Govteach" is a little melancholy this afternoon.

Another Test for Your Kid to Pass, in Order to Graduate High School

And I will be honest, I like the proposed bill. And will be honest, I think there will be people not pass.....and not graduate.

Texas House Bill 1244, will replace the old US History Exit exam and then, it would be an exam that requires all high school students to pass an exam very similar to the test given to people wanting to become American citizens.

There would be 100 questions, multiple guess,a nd you must make a 70% in order to pass and graduate from high school.

Presently, the U.S. Citizen Exam is oral, and you must answer any of a possible 100 questions. No multiple guess. You know it, or not. Random questions are asked of the 100.

And the test....Is difficult.

Trust me, I taught U.S. Citizenship classes to people wanting to become citizens. There are 3 books.

I took the test they are proposing, and even I had to think about some of the questions. Yes, I made a 100%.  But they are by no means easy.

This comes on a study by the Woodrow Wilson Institute doing a study, and giving people exams on basic U.S. Citizenship.

60+% of Americans failed. ( And passing for this exam was a 60%...on the proposed Texas exam, passing would be 70%.)

63% of Texans failed.

Texas was at the bottom, number 38.

Only 3% of Texans would score an "A."

Only 27% of people under the age of 45 could explain the Freedoms given by the First  Amendment.

My only complaint would be if I was still teaching they would do the following.

1. Change the present " government" class to a civics class. Subtle,  but there are differences.

2. The Exam would probably be given at the end of the Junior year, making the present government(civics) class an 11th grade instead of senior class.....I'd retire rather than have to teach juniors( Sorry, I got spoiled teaching seniors), or make them fire me. Make the class harder than the one you took under me.

But a test to prove you know the US Government as well as people wanting to become American Citizens?

Yes...if you are going to live here, you need to understand how the government works.

And for many of you, it is much different than what you actually think.

My Daughter in Law is WAY Cooler Than Your Daughter in Law

This goes under....." You can't this stuff."

She is going to do "just fine" here in Texas.

Just fine.

So, what was the FIRST thing she asked about when she got into the car on the way home from the airport?

"How to get a Texas Driver's License?"

No.

Seems she's taken the written part already online and passed.

Some sort of "Social Program?"

No, the Chinese don't really know what those are.

The questions was this.....

" Do I need to wait to get my American Citizenship to get my Concealed Handgun License? "

And for those of you who did not know. In the State of Texas, she can get one now.

" Any legal resident, including Green Card Holders are eligible."

You can't make this stuff up.....

So we went and got her a double meat, double cheese, hamburger with bacon.......( Her second request)

You Better Be Careful What You Hope For....

Some of you people had better be careful what you are hoping for.

You get a National Emergency for a wall declared by Mr. Trump, don't think it won't come back under a Democratic President in a few years.

They might declare an emergency on semi-automatic firearms. You gotta hand them in....Another school shooting will get this in motion.

Or, you maybe down to single shot shotguns...

They may put huge emission restrictions on Exxon-Mobil, Motiva, Chevron, Total, etc....They may decide, the "Stink Mill" can't stink no more. So hard of restrictions, some just shut their doors.

They may decide you can't drive anything but a 4 cylinder car.  Or 3 cylinder engines.

All through a National Emergency.

Don't think this won't happen.

I know some of you are scared to death you might see a Mexican or a person from Honduras buying groceries with you.

I have come to understand some of you are racist and just don't want to admit it.

Some of you are covert racists and I get this through private messages. Trust me, in the last 2 years I have discovered some of your true self.

I know some of you live in a state of fear.

Scared of black folks, scared of Mexicans, scared the "Minorities" are going to take control.

Guess what, they are. Simple mathematics. They are having more children than you are. While you are having 2.5 kids so you can have a boat or a beach house or a $75,000 vehicle. They are having large families. And they are Jus Soli/Jus Sanguinis already, and their kids are Jus Soli/Jus Sanguinis. ( Citizens)

I don't know how they are going to get past the fact we have the fewest illegal crossings in the last 50 years. Hasn't been this low since Nixon was in office.

But I digress.

This wall emergency will be in the courts for years, and then, the land owners will fight the emminate domain cases will be fought in the courts for years. It will be lucky if the wall is started in 10-20 years. And even then, there will be gapes in the walls where the land is still in the courts.

( I am amazed at people being okay with taking away people's land....as long as it isn't "their" land.)

Be careful what you wish for...It can come back and bite you...

Question for Ex-Students, People I Taught With....

So, and I did not know I that they still existed....Well, I assume that I did, but have not seen them in, well, quite a while....I thought they were long to the dump.

I found my old notes I used to teach at the Buna ISD....

This Fall will start 9 years me being retired.

The question is this. And please vote in this manner.

Like on Facebook...Keep.

Angry of Facebook.....Toss away.

I do not plan to teach again...in this lifetime BTW.....Or the next.

Are Y'all Like This?????

I had planned this blog a day or two ago....But events have sort of cut back probably more than I had planned to write.

Other than my immediate family, wife, child, daughter-in-law, mother, brother, his family......I do not have a great deal to do with most of my family.

Hate reunions.

"They" try to get me to attend, but.....I have almost nothing in common with these people.

I no longer hunt. Don't fish. ( Pretty much physical limitations)

I am about as anti-Baptist as you can get....And one side of the family thinks Baptists are about "it" as far as religion is concerned....Maybe it's because I know a great deal of Baptist's history and actually attended a Baptist seminary. ( Seminary will mess you up....I went when there was upheaval in the convention...)

I've been to Europe twice in the last 4 years, plan to make it 3 later this year....and they look at me like I am crazy.....Why would you leave SE Texas? And you went to China, and you ate donkey? ( And donkey was actually pretty tasty, I'd eat it again...)

I literally got to "out-thinking"  myself and got to wondering if this "Heaven" business is all that great.....They might be there.

Heck, the last time I was in  a church service was in......Cork, Ireland.....

There were 5 children in my Mother's family.....Dad's had 11.

I can barely, barely name all my first cousins, and I liked some of them at one time or another.....But haven't seen them in years.......and their kids and grandkid's name? Forget it.

The Thomas family has a dinner at a restaurant every month. Do I go?

Hell no.....

I'm not the most social person anyway. And I know this....I'd be bored out of my mind.

So....is this just me?

BUT!!!

In the last couple of hours, we have found out the kids plan to be to America February 17-18th....Geez, Deborah, and Kerry Don got to get on the stick......This house looks like "Yucca Flats after the war...."

So, if I do not blog you'll know why.....

Baptists....For You...

I am going to go ahead and do this when these are posted online.

Today's ( Part 2) talks about an Investigator with the 38th DA's Office at in Medina County and the problem he had with investigating the Pastor at First Baptist-Hondo.

The church members didn't really want to help.

And when the investigator called churches the pastor was formally at, one of the people who answered the phone asked...." What did he do now?"

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/investigations/article/Southern-Baptist-churches-hired-ministers-accused-13588233.php

Well, Let's Step on Someone's Toes

So many of you are just running to that mailbox every day.....Or you are checking that checking account online to see if the government has deposited that IRS refund check.

I've never understood the concept of overpaying anyway..... The government is not paying you interest on the money they are holding for you... You're giving the government a "free" loan...But, that's another story.

So, you are waiting for that refund.....and you can't wait to spend it on "Cocaine and Whores."  ( And you know it goes to that for some people.)

You know, rather than buying a new car, or just blowing the money....( And I know some of you depend on the money for necessary repairs, etc...)

You may want to put that money into some sort retirement account.

You're not going to be able to work forever. Trust me, at some point, you are going to wear out. ( God forbid you get disabled, and that is a possibility.)

And later in life, you're going to want to be in a nursing home in which the roaches and rats don't crawl all over you at night.

Or, put the money into some sort of saving for "hard times." Or emergencies.

Now, I know I am not "preaching" to everyone here. I know many of you have a 401K, IRAs, etc......But you know, there are people you know, who do not.....

What Would You Say....Or Do?

I have seen a couple of those "fun" things on the Facebook in which one asks "What would you say to 16 year old you?" The other asks you to switch your numbers on you age and would you go back?

61= 16.

As I posted in EJ McMahon's post about the switching to 16........" I hated the age 16 to 21. "

Literally hated it.

Oh, I actually sort of liked high school.....and the academic side of college, I really loved my history and government courses....

My personal life was a mess.

I dated someone I should have dumped 6 months after we first started to dated.

I had a job after high school I should have never taken, but family dynamics was involved....and I hated it.

I was a mess from 16 to 21. Didn't know what I was doing, didn't know where I was going.

I was so busy later in my in my 2nd, 3rd year of college, had 2-3 jobs, going to school full time,  I did not have a date in over two years. I had given up on dating.

When I graduated from college there was no telling what I would have done, or been. I may have went ahead and joined that Anglican Monastery in Dallas. I seriously may have joined the military. ( Maybe, the military was still not taking a large number of people, that entire Vietnam build-up was an influence of them still)

Literally, if my wife had not asked me out, I probably would be at 61 still be wandering. ( And she asked me out...girls, don't be shy or afraid people will think your are somehow crazy, or too forward, or too "easy." If you are interested, it is 2019. Ask them out. You never know...)

No, TODAY is the good old days. I have enjoyed the last 8 years of my life more than at any other time in my life. (Yeah, I am crippled, yeah, I am old, and closer to the end than the start, but you know, other than my wife and my deity, I don't have to answer to anyone...and my wife is easy to please.)

No thanks. I don't want to do that 16 to 21 again....

More....Really? This Size?

So, it is no secret, my wife and I are looking at traveling to the top of Scotland this year.

As I have said, the travel outside of North America window is closing, more rapidly than even I fathomed.....I really am hoping I get to New Zealand before my physical ability go on long flights is done.

And we have been looking at where we want to go to in the Highlands.

Trouble is, we may run out of Scotland before we run out of time.

It is not that big of a place. So, we might go to Northern England or someplace else.

Let me give you an example.

Here is Scotland inside of Texas.

Yeah, it doesn't even cover East Texas....

Sexual Abuse....In the Southern Baptists.

700 victims. 220 known perpetrators. This includes Pastors, Deacons, Youth Ministers......This took place over 20 years.....

Well, the Catholics have nothing on the Baptists......And you know, there are people who have not come forward. And I hope they will.

The Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express News have started a 3 part story on sexual abuse in the Southern Baptist Convention.

Here is the link to the first part below.( I knew it was coming, they've been investigating for a while)

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/investigations/article/Southern-Baptist-sexual-abuse-spreads-as-leaders-13588038.php

Talk to your children. Keep an eye on your kids.....If something is not right with them, well probably there isn't.

Friday.....Friday....Friday

And it doesn't mean as much as it once did to me....However the good thing is, my wife is off for the weekend, and I sort of like having her around the house.

No, I need to sort of have a "housecleaning" blog.

I had a PM from someone upset about the mistakes I make from time to time on the blog.

This is a one man operation. I have no copy editor. I may or may not proofread the blog. I do have a spell check on the computer I write these on, but it doesn't catch everything.

I don't know if you have noticed or not.

I have somewhat slowed down on the number of blogs I am producing.

Now, I try and write one every day, but in the past I often would do, 2-3-4 blogs almost every day.

I don't write blogs every day during the weekends. Sometimes I may write both days, some days, I may not.

I do not take advertising.

When I re-invented the blog as "The Govteach Part Deaux, I did not place my PayPal link on the home page. I have not set up a Patreon in order to have someone or several of you be patrons of the site....I am not making any money here, and believe it or not, I have to think through some of these blogs for more time than you know.

Some of you have noticed I have not really discussed national politics as much as I once tried to do.

At this point, while I will discuss national policy, at this juncture in time, I disgusted with all three branches of the national government. Executive, Legislative, Judicial....and let me just add this....And I am not changing anyone's heart and minds at this period in our history.

Our discontent is only going to grow on both sides. Today's circus in D.C. will be just a blip in our minds in 2 months, if not 2 weeks.

So, I am going to at this point keep the blog covering, local/state politics, religion, "Our" favorite ISD, society, sometimes fun stuff at this moment in our time.

Once again, thanks for reading.

Not This UIL?

Love it, hate it, cuss it......I know I have cussed the UIL more than you know.....Hell, I know at least once, Mr. Taucer caught something and kept me off the back page of the UIL's Leaguer magazine. ( It is the place where people who get in trouble are published) And I will be eternally grateful.

So, I see something in the Dallas papers concerning the UIL and I read the article.

So, if you now have a child involved in Marching band, that child has to have a physical before Marching Band starts.

When I read it, I went....." What the hell?"

We never did a physical and I did band for well, almost 12 years of my life, if you include university.

But, I got to thinking...Yeah, today, it might be wise.

This is no longer a rural state. 85% of all kids live in 20 of the 254 counties of this state. School is out and these kids spend all summer, " sucking up the air condition" inside, a large number playing video games all summer. There ain't a kid picked a pea or rode a bicycle in these counties.

Yeah, they need to go and get a physical. You would be amazed at how many of these kids pass out in the heat, the first week of band practice. ( I know some schools already require physicals for band)

Then, I read that there is a "State Mariachi Band" contest.

55 bands will go to state this year.

Trouble is, this is pretty much leaving out much of the state. It just is. I don't see Buna, or PNG, or Mt Vernon ever spending the money for a Mariachi Band. South Texas? Sure. West Texas? Sure. Maybe urban districts.....

It is sort of like wrestling and soccer. There is just not enough interest( or kids) in a lot of smaller schools. ( The smallest soccer district is 4A)( That said, I see soccer growing in Texas, I know in urban areas, there are a lot of kids playing in high school) And the more we learn about football injuries, the more people will keep their kids from playing.

Then, I see that Robotics and  Copy Editing be added at the UIL Academic level as "Official" events. I know Robotics was on "trial" basis for a while. And Robotics is a good move. We are headed that way.

( I am still trying to figure out how UIL Accounting has survived? Maybe it has made a comeback? There used to be two schools in our district send two teams...ECISD and Buna....And I picked a team before contest knowing with the numbers alone we'd get medals....and more importantly, points.)

I remember when there was an attempt to make a UIL Economics an academic contest. I even went to the inaugural meeting and knew 10 minutes in it was never going to work. Rather than try it out on a state wide basis, they put the trial in the Valley. Why there I do not know? But the lady out of Brownsville ISD did a good job and had a success until, the powers that be, decided that the contest should be a majority of microeconomics.....Microeconomics doomed the contest.

So, old habits die hard, being UIL Director, well, old habits die hard.

You and Your Damn Birthday

So, we got a trend going now. I don't know, maybe the correct term is "bandwagon."

And I am talking about those of you who are now asking for financial donations to some charity group on your Facebook, for your birthday.

1. I can't afford to give money to everyone......So, I give it to no one.

2. About 3/4ths of these organizations I have never heard of, nor do I know the actual percentage that wind up with people who need them.

3. We already donate to charities. Disabled veteran's group, an organization that helps children, and religious groups. We are tapped out there.

4. I have stopped wishing people 'Happy Birthday" on Facebook. I just have, most of it, to avoid the donations.

5. Don't tell me about the charity. I don't care. I don't....Who I donate to is between, me, my wife, my conscience and my God.

Okay, I've gotten that off my chest.

You Know, I Didn't Vaccinate My Kids, and Those Who Lived Turned Out Great

I saw the quote on a vaccination site.  Of course, it is sarcasm. But you know, it is the truth....

I had the measles. I was sick.

So sick, my temp so high, they were afraid I had brain damage.

And there are things I could do before, I can no longer do today. I had measles at age 12. ( Coordination troubles.)

My temp was so high, they were afraid of reproduction problems, thankfully no.

With cases of people in the Houston area with measles, there will be more kids get sick, because their parents have been listening to a Playboy Playmate.

Yeah, listen to a girl who gained fame with blown up breasteses, so has no medical degree, no nursing degree, no Master's of Public Health.

( Don't get me wrong, you want to get breast augmentation, go for it...Likewise, for health reasons you want a reduction, go for it...The girl in question did it for fame and fortune.....Because she has no other talent....)

Don't be shocked here....Polio can make a comeback. And I wish you could be able to speak to my late grandfather about polio.....His surgeries, his use of a cane all his life....all from polio.....

Vaccinate your kids....

Et Tu Mary Poppins?

So, an English professor at a college is all upset because Mary Poppins in the movie is dressed in 'Blackface" because of course there NEVER were female chimney sweeps.

No, none during WW1 because the men were off at war....

None during the Second World War.

None who took over their husband's business because he was too ill to work...

None because, well, it was a good paying job....
What is wrong with us in this country? Why are we just "looking" for stuff to be unhappy about?

You Parents...You Need to Talk to Your Kids

I know we have done this before. And I know some of you have just ignored me.

The Governor of Virginia is going to wind up resigning for something he did 34-35 years ago.

And he was in medical school. He knew better than do blackface, dress in KKK garb. This was the 1980s and people knew better then. ( What the hell kind of medical school is posting photos like this anyway?)

This is not going to get any better. It is going to get worse.

In this day and age in which everything is recorded, on social media, on the internet, on cell phones....people are going to be fired for stuff they did in high school, in college......30 or 40 years from now.

You think I am kidding, I am not.

You need to tell your kids think about stuff they are doing today.

It can haunt them years from now....Or worse, it can come back on you.

Don't think there isn't a business, an industry that gets photos of your kids acting a fool and go, you know, maybe their parents condone that? Is their value to us actually a liability?

Don't think this couldn't happen.....

This is a changing time period folks, and you can "fit" about it all you want, but it will change with or without you....

Y'all Are Going to Kill Me.....

I look and sound like Lurch from the old "Addams Family" TV show in the 1960s.......

" Uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Y'all going to kill me.

I saw a meme that said.....

" Straight men understand consent in a gay bar."

I've don't think I've been in a gay bar in America. I think we ate accidentally in a "Gay Pub" in Edinburgh a few years ago. My wife didn't have a clue. Actually the food was so good, we went back the next morning for breakfast.( Pubs often open for breakfast in the UK)

I am to the age however, if I was to go into a gay bar, I would be be flattered in if I got hit on.

Now, while I understand their mechanics of relations in that world, I do not plan or want to enact in those "mechanics."

But again, I'd be flattered.

Why not??

I then see a meme with someone's mind blowing up about "Gay Marriage."

Last time I checked the Bible there were all sorts of sins many of you are involved in.

Sex before marriage.

Sex with someone other than their marriage partner.

Looking and at people of the other sex and lusting, literally saying to themselves, " Man, I'd hit that."

Divorce. Other than adultery((Matthew 5:32; 19:9), abandonment by an unbeliever(1 Corinthians 7:15) I see no reason for divorce.

The Bible even talks about gluttony ( overeating ) as a sin.

Philippians 3:19

19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Paul talks about a lot of stuff we do that are sins.....and one is not worse than the other....

Galatians 5: 19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

And Paul even said in Romans that he himself had a hard time keeping from sinning...

Romans 7:19

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Folks, take care of your own house.

Leave gay folks alone.....They like you are just trying to be happy.

Here Endth the Lesson

You Got to Do Something About Your Dogs

Let preface this by saying, and many of you know I am a dog person. My neighbor's dogs hang out over here when they are gone, at work.

And I understand the dog being used as a Support Dog.  I don't get a support gopher, or penguin( How the hell do you get a hold of a penguin anyway?) or whatever oddball critter.

But folks are just abusing the hell out of this.

Yesterday, the old Govteach fired up the old toaster and went to town. Bought groceries at a store he doesn't frequent that often.

And riding in the stores buggy's ( Carts for you fancy folks) 3 separate people had their dogs just a riding.

Some of those little half breed poos, whatever little dogs. ( One was a chihuahua)

I now ask why is this occurring? Why is a damn dog being allowed in a buggy?

I had gotten into a discussion with a man at the store stocking Pringle's when one came by, I said noting but as the man pushing the riding  dog went around the corner he looked at me and said, " We were told not to say anything, that it was management's job."

You can't tell these all were 'Support Dogs.' You know good and well, these are all pets that get more attention than their kids.

Come on, these are dogs.

They lick their balls. They eat shit. They lick their ass. ( Now I know some of you are licking other folks buttholes, but I don't want to know about it. )

But they're dogs.

I don't want a dog where my food is going to be.

I won't go back to that store.

Channel 12 Has Fired Their Sports Director

KBMT has fired their sports director after an arrest.

If she's really pretty......She's probably a cop.

Brave New World

If I can borrow the title from a dystopian novel written by Aldous Huxley in England in 1931.
I look at what is going on around the world and sometimes I just have to take a deep breath.

In the new Netflix movie on Ted Bundy it seems that girls are falling in love with Ted.  I don't know if it is Ted or Zac Efron.

Bundy who kidnapped, raped, killed, cut up women, had sex with them after they were dead........

Really, I read this and go.......Is the "bad boy" syndrome that strong?

It is sort of like the mug-shot of the man who had the piercing blue eyes, and he was/is in prison now?

Women from all over America were trying to donate to his bail.

Then, I read about the just emerging of the sex-robot.

With Artificial Intelligence, they can now "learn"....and you can get one made to order. They now have them talking. In an accent so far they have things like French, English, Scottish, American( Which American? Sounding "normal" like us? Or like in New England? On a side note, our son has lost his accent. But, that's another blog.)

Hair, color, size, height, hips, breast size...even the shape of color of nipples.

The Japanese are so concerned about the rise of the sex-robot that they are looking for their race to die out.

And they are saying that could spread here.

Zero population growth. Or negative growth....Literally robots for men and women....Why date? Why put up with it?

They have testers for these robots. They include..." Beating the hell" outta their robots to see how well they hold up to a beating during sex.....Lots of disturbed people out there. More than you know...

And an underground buy and selling of robots, their parts, accessories has already emerged online...

You know, I am glad I just have so much time to go on this old earth.....

The State of the Buna ISD?

Actually, this should be some official telling you " How wonderful and great the Buna ISD is right now. " But it isn't.  In r...
