I was going to do a blog I have tentatively titled " Murder, Mayhem, Hiding Between the Texla and Gist Roads".....And it will eventually be written.....
I get up and look at the economic number this morning....
They ain't good.....
In the last week, here are the lay-off numbers.
UPS- 48,000
Intel-24,000
Oracle-10,000+
Salesforce- 2500-5000
Microsoft-15,000+
Amazon-30,000
Panasonic-10,000
Boeing-5100
Target-1800
Paramount-1800+
There are 117 companies planning on laying-off workers in November. Most, have not announced the numbers as of yet....Companies like Perdue Foods, John Deere Tractor, Safeway, Wells Fargo.....
Again, that is in the last week.....
And there there are the lay-offs in tourist spots like Las Vegas. They are talking about 90,000 empty hotel rooms in that city. ( I've never been. I am not a gambler. Don't like deserts. Don't like "glitz.")
I know Air B&B is hurting and in states like Florida, a tourist state, people are having a " Fire Sale" trying to sell their short-term rent properties. There are people taking $250,000 losses just to dump their properties.
I don't know, but if you have a job, might want to hang onto it for dear life.
I keep hearing rumbles about local plants, refineries looking at lay-offs. Already, as I have posted, previously, Lion, the old Firestone plant in Orange/West Orange in closing down in December.
AI is going to continue to take jobs. I seriously do not know what people are going to do? They're talking about AI in coming 3-7 years taking 7,000,000-13,000,000 jobs. What will the fallout be from that? The economy is already hurting. Who else will be hurt due to other lay-offs, causing people in other industries to be let-go. Especially in the " Service Industry."
This is a worldwide event, in Germany, 100,000 auto workers have been fired. That's Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, etc.....
Even teaching school , and I have heard from teachers who are just burned totally out. I am telling you, in the last few years, kids have changed, and not for the good. You might want to look at keeping that teaching position, at least for right now. And I know it's tough.
Several people had written me and again, Christmas is going to be toned back in the home. No gift exchange. Have a family gathering, and a meal, with the meal being a little less in a few homes, and call it even.....One family is talking about spaghetti with pork meatballs. Not lying, that sounds pretty darn good.
I am concerned folks...Very concerned.....
Automation is taking over the job market.
