That sounds like me for years standing around a fire talking with the "boys" waxing philosophic on some topic....
Seriously....
And unless you just know, you have not a clue what to get your wife, girlfriend, significant other, what to get them for Christmas.
Yeah, I know, she told you back in the month of June something, and well, you were not paying attention and in June, well,Christmas was the last thing on your mind.
And hints, well, ladies, we don't really get hints.
And guys, buying something from Victoria's Secret, well, are you buying that for her....Or for you?
And let's face it as a person, a former student, I really enjoy her conversations with more and more, as we have long discussions about adulting, yesterday, it was about our dental work. And how expensive it is.....
Anyway years ago, she said, that item from Victoria's Secret is "going to wind up on the floor anyway in about 3 minutes. "
And boys, let's face it, if she's wearing no make-up, a t-shirt, hoodie, sweatpants, the nerdiest glasses she owns, 35 year old house-shoes, sits by you on the couch, and she puts her hand on your upper thigh, you're are going to take that as a signal. A good signal.... If mine shows up wearing something from Victoria Secret, full make up, looking like some " Mattress Actress", I am going to assume a doppelganger has arrived from the second ring of Dante's Inferno and I am running off....
And in my wife's case, she really doesn't wear jewelry. A simple necklace, perhaps, and years ago because she can't wear anything in which she can't put gloves over, she wears a a simple wedding band. ( I got her a gold ring with small diamonds and sapphires, her favorite stone, that she has worn for 35 years. Might have been the best thing I ever got someone for the holidays. )
I know it's hard to come up with something. I've been married 152 years and finally, we give each other lists of suggested presents. Mostly, it turns into places we want to travel to....Trouble is, most of the places are too cold and snow for this time of year. I can just about imagine Debbie and Kerry driving in snow in the Alps of Switzerland. You can come to our funeral when they recover our bodies in Spring.
So, that present is generally done/received/whatever around Easter of the coming Spring.
For under the tree we generally get some item of clothes we need or something we need around the house.
Ladies, literally tell your husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, SO, whatever, what you want for Christmas, and tell him perhaps more than once.
It is why we broke down and went to lists. And sometimes the lists have something simple like a pie or cake....
And Central Europe is on St. Deborah's. And I've been researching Spring flights to Geneva, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, etc..... And Bryant will be proud of me, researching BMW's. Benz's, or Audi's to rent.....And to do the travel, I drive a 15 year old Honda. Live in a small house, rarely eat out, and save our pennies....
Anyway, good luck boys, I know it is often a hard time of year getting something for your sweetheart....
