Again, You Never Know When You're Going to P*ss People Off???

 I had not planned to blog today, as I am still trying to complete all of my Christmas "gatherings." ( Had another one at Grandma's yesterday for the kids. They just were able to come in from Seattle. ) And we still have at least one more to go.....I am about Christmased out. 

And I wrote a friend after I was " chewed-out" by, well, several people now....

I am wondering if two of them got mad, well, the fact they and their significant other have split recently?

They were all up about the Facebook cartoon post about the husband/boyfriend whistling at his SO watching her get dressed/undressed.....And he's done so thousands of times.

One was so irate that I am going to have to delete them.....And I though we were friendly. 

One even said " Maybe you need to go to a strip club." 

Where the hell did that come from? 

The one time I went to a strip club was in college. I found it boring, and the fact that a pretty good percentage of girls dancing had a boyfriend/husband there at the club, me thinking the worse, believing that the male involved was some sort of panderer. ( Word of the day...Look up the term if you do not know.) I was sad when I left.

As my friend wrote, “If I ever get to where I am not attracted to my wife, who am I?”.

I don't know what makes people " tick" anymore? 

Are we just this unhappy now? Are we just a bunch of prudes?  

I don't know....Perhaps I need to run the " Mother of all Purges" the first part of 2025?

 

Merry Christmas 2024!

 Just wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas from here at the Compound. 

Unless something dramatic occurs, there is a real possibility this will be the last blog of 2024. 

It's been a rough year, as I've had two back surgeries in the 2024, and we really did not travel. I am ready to " Go overseas" again.

I am not sure how much we will be home the rest of the year.( Heck, wasn't home yesterday, had a commitment I had to take care of....)

This past weekend we had Christmas with Deb's family, and tomorrow, we will go to Grandma's, my mom for the traditional Christmas breakfast. 

If I am up to it, I may go to the Farm in NE Texas for a couple of days, carry my 12 gauge 3.5 inch mag to take a couple of shots at ducks on the pond. That said, I may not. 

Then on the New Year's we'll all be in Llano for my brother's swearing in as District Attorney of Llano, Burnet, Blanco, San Saba Counties. ( Already had a friend offer me his German sports car to see about driving 140mph from Llano to San Saba at about 2AM.....I can just see me on that first car flip of 12 to come saying to myself, " This is not good." So I passed on the car.)

Then coming up New Year's weekend, I have a wedding to perform.

So, I'll be " Running and Gunning" traveling the next week, week and a half.  

Just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Christmas as the Brits say, a Happy Boxing Day, Happy New Year's from here at the Compound.

Drones Over America

So, New Jersey and other parts of America have experienced a rash of drone sightings. 

Why?

So, the FAA is all over drones and if you have one, it has to give off radio signals so the government can track them.

Trust me, there are US Government computers tracking what you are up to with your drone. Not transmitting? The government is tracking those too, if you are up to nefarious no good, they can find you....You'll have the "Feds" knocking on your door.   

At first I thought they might be the Russians, or the Chinese, or even the Iranians. All 3 nations have a huge military drone program.  

But, the US Military has a pretty good drone program also. Proactive and reactive. Offensive and defensive if you will.

So, what is going Govteach?

Man, and this is speculation.....Rooted in fact and educated guesses....

Something has gotten away from the US Government. It is the government after all. 

My guess? 

Something, nuclear, biological, or chemical....And some group that hates America has gotten their hands on it. 

I am guessing nuclear.....

It's the holiday season and what would be a better time to set off some sort of "dirty bomb" in New York City? 

Christmas, or even better, New Year's Eve when there are hundreds of thousands of people in Time's Square for the celebration. 

So, why doesn't the government tell us? 

Could you just see the panic the news would cause? Hell, you panic down here when we have a tropical storm in the Gulf and buy up all the milk and bread in the stores. And it snows here, "God help us." 

People would go nuts if they knew the truth.  

Now, I don't know if any of this is true, but if I was a betting man, I would suspect their are " Nest" teams in the New Jersey, New York, Connecticut are ready to go in the Tri-State as I write this....

( Nest teams, are former Rangers, Marine Recon, Green Beret etc now working for the Department of Energy trained to secure nuclear threats in America.) 

Scary times we live in folks, and with the economy, the world situation, hate to tell you, but it is going to get worse before it gets better.....If it ever does.....

 

Teachers...This One is for You.....

 You made it. 

When the bell rings at the end of the day, don't hang around....Get the hell outta there. 

Feck( As me Irish people would pronounce it.) school, seriously, feck it. You're not getting a raise, a medal or anything for hanging around late.Go home, don't worry about the mess at the district.

The district would throw you under the bus in a heartbeat....And you should know that.

It's the Christmas break. It was my favorite break from school of all of them. 

I hated the ones in the Spring because, let's face it, the Spring is so damn busy in the high school realm, well, I had so much to worry with, UIL Academics, graduation, and in March, well, I was just ready for it to be over...Seniorities is real folks. It's like herding cats.

Enjoy the break, yes, I know it'll be busy, but those few days after the first, well, enjoy the heck out of them. 

And eat. Say yes to that extra slice of pie, that piece of chocolate, make that turkey "sammich"  at 9PM. Feck those calories, we'll worry about them manana.

The long Winter leading into Spring is coming.....It's less than 100 school days until the last day, come on, you can do that standing on your ear....

Yeah, I Like This.....

 As many of you know, I wear the flat cap,( Think Boston Scally) like I'm running around the Yorkshire Dales in England.....Even have taken to wearing a cotton one in the summer. 

I think I own about 25-30 now. 

Hell, I have the one I am wearing for Christmas already picked out.

It's sort of my signature cap.....I've even duck and deer hunted in one.

So, I am a people watcher at airports and we were at 3 on our last trip. (I have even started looking at guys and saying to myself, " Nope they're not married, " and generally they are NOT wearing a wedding ring. 90% accurate. And married guys, get a ring, what are you thinking, you're going to be able to go back and " Chase tail?")

Hobby in Houston, Love Field in Dallas, Preston Smith in Lubbock. 

I was the only person wearing a flat cap.....I was thinking I'd see at least one other.

 I did not.  

I know I was in Texas, and there were several people, especially in Lubbock and Dallas wearing cowboy hats, people even carrying their fancy hat carriers. ( I think they are officially called "cans.") 

Nothing against cowboy hats, but you got to carry a can to take your hat off because it's a pain the wear in an airplane seat.....Hell, I can roll up my hat and put in my back pocket if I need to. 

I tried for years to wear other hats, caps, but just ain't me. 

Yeah, call me an oddball, a bit "different" but I always have been....

I like to look at it this way.....I'm just cooler than you.....

Bats Invade Buna ISD!

 So, apparently, the junior high band concert was cancelled/postponed last evening due to bats in the activity center, ( AKA the new gym). 

30 bats. 

30......And the thing is I am not shocked, colder weather, they're looking for a nice warm place to hang upside down. 

I can do a lot of stuff....snakes, rats, mice, bugs, but I draw the line at bats....As a kid, we used to throw baseballs at dusk at bats to watch them dive at them....Trouble is, they get upset after you do it for a while, I almost had to get rabies shots. 

It seems bats can get inside a building using a hole a size of a #2 pencil eraser......I'd like to just see that....

A company is coming out to seal the building to keep the school from more bat invasions.....Meanwhile the ISD is switching home and home sites with other school districts for basketball. 

Not shocked here, but, why does it seem goofy ass shit always seem to happen to Buna ISD? 

Yes, Christmas Sucks??????????

 As a kid, I loved Christmas, as a Senior Citizen, AKA, Old Man, I am sort of ...." Meh." 

Maybe it's because I have 67 of them coming up in a few days. 

And it seems that about 1/3rd of Americans feel the same. 

And what are we tired of? 

Well, mostly the meals. we are tired of turkey and dressing....I know I am. We just had it a couple of weeks ago. 

I know that Deb's family will have their Christmas this coming weekend. And what are we having?

Barbecue. 

Bought.......Trouble is my brother has lived in Llano long enough that I am somewhat spoiled by the German smoked BBQ they have out there, and well, East Texas BBQ generally sucks, sucks bad. It's okay, but Hill Country still makes you " Want to throw rocks at the other stuff." 

I know we are going over the Grandma's ( My Mom's) on Christmas Day....And what are having? 

Breakfast. 

You want to really excite the ole Govteach, give him a slice of bacon. 

I know, we will be going to Llano January 1st. for Perry's swearing in as District Attorney out there, and I know good and well everything will be rushed out there. And that's when we'll do Christmas out there, and we'll have German smoked meats. 

And this whole gift exchange....Hell, I don't know what you really want?????? And I don't think I can afford it, a new Porsche? Little outta my price range.

I'll just give you some cash, easy enough..... 

So, the question of the day.....Are you excited about Christmas this year, or just well, "meh?"

New Buna ISD Calendar 24 25-Some Thoughts

 This has been posted all over the internet, however, I don't know who has seen it or not....I was in Houston for a late afternoon surgeon follow up visit, so just now posting.

So, I will post it at the bottom of the page. 

Already I have seen happy, unhappy people concerning the new calendar. 

And if you want Friday's off, let the board know for 25-26. If you want to remain at 5 days, also let them know. 

If I was teaching, not going to lie, I would be thrilled we'd be back at 5 whole days. I would have a hard enough time trying to do government in 4.5 days as it was, economics, well......I would be looking at the 4.5 week like this, " Hell, we're here on Friday until 1:30, may as well go to 3:30 like any other day. "

I know many of the schools on a 4 day week are thrilled, and it is a bonus for attracting faculty and staff.....But, still not sold. 

 

 

Minding My Damn Business this Morning Buna........

 Was listening to a combo and Billy Joe Shaver and Patti Smith, yes an odd combo when this came across my internet. 

I've been hearing about this alleged situation. 

Y'all fixing to have several new board members and in 2025, a new sheriff. Maybe it's time to investigate? Maybe time the Texas Rangers need to be called in? They have a bunch that only does accounting forensics. 

Surely this isn't true? 

If it is, the least they can do is resign?

Y'all Going to Get Me Sent to Hell

 I was behaving myself, or trying to and I get sent these photos from Buna......

I was wondering.......

Just isn't Christmas without them......I am wondering if the youth are thinking the same thing, or if their nose is buried too much into some sort of electronic device? 

Okay Former Students, I'll Bite

 So, had a student admit she cheated on a test....

Like I did not know most of the time you were cheating. Fail every other test, then ace this one? 

Come on, do you really think I'm that stupid? 

Trouble is, I fail everyone who cheats, where does this leave us? 30 kids graduating? Trust me, I'd have to find another job. 

So, I had to look the other way, and well, I wasn't thrilled by it, but I played the game. 

And it was a game I had to live with to keep a job. 

I already was performing Old Testament miracles for some of you to graduate.....I don't think Jesus himself performed as many miracles as I did at Buna during his 3 years as described in the Gospels. 

Do you really understand how bad you had to " Fuck up" to not graduate? 

And that's a cross I have to live with. And may at judgement day have to answer for it, I'm not sure, but probably will. 

But, here you are 20+ years later making a confession?  Or want to be cute or funny?

Want to confess now?

Okay Buna Schools...I've Been Nice...

 So, for several weeks, I've been nice to Buna ISD. 

And in truth, other than the search for a new Supt. Of Schools, and we are in the Christmas - Thanksgiving  Holiday season... And right now, we are down to less than two weeks, including the Friday short days left before the Christmas break. 

And the teachers are trying to hang on. Everyone is wanting Santa to come on. Right now trying to get kids to work is a battle. And with the Gen Alpha kids, I can't imagine what it is like in the classroom....( Have you seen the video of the little girl in Walmart, a Gen  Alpha just tearing stuff up? Throwing glass bottles of grape juice on the floor busting them to pieces? I know several podcasters have discussed the tape. )

People were afraid to stop her. And in this day afraid of lawsuits, police arresting them, etc. Who can blame them? 

And I understand it is very difficult to find people wanting, or even, wanting to give it a shot in the classroom. Thus the " District of Innovation." 

Trouble is, people will get hired by a school district and never even try to get a certificate. And if they do, why stay in poor paying Buna Public Schools? 

Then, there are the group of teachers who spend years take the exam over and over. 

There are people with actual certificates, who would love to teach in Buna, But politics gets involved, and those who can't pass the test to get their teacher's certificate are kept, or hired over a person with all types of qualifications. 

Again, it is why so many people do not stay. So many people who " know people" are treated so much better than other people who are also Buna natives, that " know people" because no one else will take them.

I seriously wonder why I stayed? It certainly wasn't for the pay. 

I wonder who the next Supt of Schools will be? I wonder how long before the editors of this site will have a " field day" questioning their leadership? 

Just things to consider before the break 

Okay Buna Folks

 I have calmed down a bit since yesterday. 

I need to start turning down more people who ask me to marry them. 

No, not going totally out of the celebrant " business." I don't for whatever you think it is worth . 

I just need to be more selective. Too some of  y'all want to marry and have a boyfriend, girlfriend, perhaps one of each, several, after you marry. 

I know some of you are not sure if you're the dad, or you have a choice of 2-3, perhaps more guys who could be the father. And one may or may not be the present husband. Meanwhile, he's married to you and has gotten a girlfriend, mistress, another man's wife pregnant, or at least there is a possibility....and the husband may or may not know. And if he knows, he may not care. And often, there is a fear of a DNA test. I was told by someone in the know, often because, the two suspected fathers, might not be the father in the end. 

I am surprised at the people in church who have ' open' marriages, and often, the wife files for divorce because the husband finds a better " girlfriend"/" mistress" to carry on with. Never mind the wife has her own boyfriend. 

And some of the birth control some of you use. Won't use birth control because it effects you physically. Or won't use condoms because they " don't feel right." Or use the old " pull and pray" method. And you know what these people are called?

" Mommy and Daddy "

And then, are you testing for STDs? Or are you afraid your family doctor might think less of you? 

Some of these STDs can't be cured. 

Right now, I'm not physically able to do a wedding. 

And some of you, I know are getting married in the future, and I have you down for the future. Whenever that may be. 

But some of you, well, I need say " No."
