I Cussed the Buna Schools....Badly.....What is Going on Up There?

I know, I know, I shouldn't swear....

I know, I know I shouldn't let Buna ISD get me all "stirred up."

And, I had been pretty good not cussin' but lately, I've hopped off the rails here, as Paul said in Romans 7: 19 " For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do." KJV ( I posted in King James Version for all of you who think that KJV is somehow better than other versions. You know, those of you stuck in 1600s Stewart/Stuart England....Or perhaps you're just a fanboy/fan-girl of King James VI & I.....And we'll talk about that later, meanwhile read his letters to George Villiers......)

So, if Paul had that problem, well, a heathen who grew up in the woods of Vidor, well, sometimes I get off the "straight and narrow."

Yesterday, I discussed the fact Buna Schools are a "District of Innovation" and they can hire folks without certification...Trouble is, you're supposed to be hiring folks with certification when they are available.

So, I was done writing on the certification situation at Buna.....Seriously, I was. Was looking at writing on the Iran situation, and either the US or Israel bombing Iran.....

Then, I receive a private message from someone who has been in the education "bidness" for a while.....

They are a Buna alumni and had applied for the Government/Economics job at Buna.....................

They hold a high school Social Studies Certificate. One that is valid. ( You have to say valid now, as the state no longer issues LIFE certificates like oldsters like myself hold. You have to re-new them now. Pay $150 every few years.Think it's still $150)

They also have experience teaching secondary social studies.

They were upset, it seems they didn't even get a sniff.

It makes you wonder, how many people were overlooked who had experience, and more importantly certificates.

You know, Buna ISD, it's like you're just doing whatever I want to do, screw the rules....Or even what makes sense.

Kind of makes you wonder...What the Cornbread Fuck is Going on Up There????????

Does the board really know is another question?

Or, just another type of Buna clique?

I seriously worry about the move from elementary to 12th grade by the next government/economics instructor. I worry the seniors will eat her alive.

And I'm serious when I say this, if I were to apply at Buna today( Before you knew who/what I am) after my time in Dayton, Magnolia Schools, I wouldn't have a damn dog's chance of being hired.....

Certifications @ Buna ISD?

I've heard from a number of people upset about the number of people at Buna ISD that do not have a certificate to teach the subject that they are teaching....I even have heard from people upset that the new gov/eco teacher allegedly isn't certified to teach government and economics. And they're a little upset by it....

I know when I walked out of university I was credentialed to teach history, government( I remember the old days for a couple of years they put Government, Civics, Political Science on the certificate,) geography....and crazy ass subjects I could just about see me teaching....psychology, sociology, anthropology....

Also, when I was hired by Buna, I had to be certified to teach government and economics before I was even considered. It was a big damn deal.  Then Supt. Leland Williams checked my certification....Three times....

And I know it's harder than ever to find some one to teach.....But finding certain fields are much easier than others.....

Out of this, the Buna Board of of Trustees are saying that everyone should be certified by the year 2029.....How damn many are teaching in fields they are not certified? And those hired now should be certified with a year......Allegedly to meet once a month with the building principal to discuss their progress....I wonder if anything will happen at the end of the year if they do not gain certification?

That's 4 years out for all teachers being hired, I assume.....Trouble is, in 4 years, will anyone want to teach, much less teach in Buna, other than "old hands?"

Damn You Sorry A$$ People.....

I really did not plan to get up and deal with the mayhem in LA at 1:30AM CDT on YouTube.

But, some sorry ass individual has thrown out a dog in our neighborhood. This happens from time time. I guess they look at us and decide, " Those people will probably take care of Fluffy."

When in reality, Fluffy winds up on FM1130 run over trying to make it home.

Folks, if you get a dog, cat, snake, rat, possum, whatever as a pet, plan on this being a multi year deal.

I certainly don't need nor want to dog. I've been out of the "dog bidness" for over 15 years now.

Someone has thrown out a White Boxer.

The sumofabitch got under the house, and cried all night long. And would not come out.

I damn near got my Mas 49/56 and sent it to see "Doggie Jesus" but I thought better as it was under the house.  Plus, don't need to shooting a .308 round under the house.

It has finally disappeared from under the house. Trouble is, I have neighbors with chickens, livestock, not as nice as me and a strange dog shows up, well, it'll be "Doggie Jesus" time with them.

But seriously folks, you got a dog, don't just toss it out.

I've Been Everywhere Man........I Wax Philosophic and Worry....

Hate to steal a line from the old school C&W musician Hank Snow. ( Yeah, I know, most of you reading this won't have a clue who he is....Long time member of the Grand Ole Opry, sang, "I've Been Everywhere, " " I Don't Hurt Anymore,"  and my favorite Hank Snow song, " Hello Love.")

I am fairly well traveled, been places I've never dreamed of going, like Kunming, China.......The Plain's of Abraham( And they're not in Israel)......The West Bank.....( We're looking hard at Croatia across to Northern Italy next... Visit the home of the Renaissance....)

But, I ain't never been to Los Angeles.....Ain't on that bucket list, we went to San Francisco a few years ago and well, that was enough of California.

I am ain't lying, we felt safer in Derry, Northern Ireland walking around in the middle of the hotbed of the "Troubles" and a rough part of The West Bank than San Francisco.

I can't fathom what kind of hellhole LA is now.

We wound up watching the riots over immigration yesterday. You Tube, Rumble now is the choice for news. Fuck CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, News Nation......Get a phone, a cheapo camera and stream live from YouTube....

Now, don't get me wrong, I am all about immigration. Seriously......Hell, we got one....And knowing my child, even as a child, we were not shocked we have a Chinese daughter-in-law. ( Our child was born about 32 years old. He was always an adult. )

And the way our nation is going, we need immigration to keep our economic numbers up.

And the way things are going, I wonder what our demographics will look like in 2050? In 25 years, well, I doubt I am around. I'm hoping to just make in to 2035.

Here is where I was lost yesterday......And I posted this on FB yesterday.

Why, if you're wanting to be here.....Why are you rioting with the flag of Mexico, or Honduras, or Columbia?

Now, I'm all about being proud of your ancestry, I tell folks all the time about where my people were from, but hell, the last group of my people, the Irish, got here in the 1800s. Others, were here in the 1600s. The French from Nova Scotia, 1745..... But still proud of my heritage.....

And say what you want, we all came to the New World for some economic reason, either hoping for it to get better, or a sinister reason beyond our control.

I'm also a proud holder of an American passport. Seriously, of my personal possessions( We'll call it that), it might be my favorite item I possess. I guard Deb's and mine like gold.

If this wasn't "The Bright Shining City on the Hill" why come here, and perhaps it is losing some of its luster now?

Again, what will the U.S. look like in 40-50 years? I know this is a hard discussion already in Great Britain and Ireland, how they'll look in 40-50 years.

Perhaps, this is the start of the end of the " American Empire" and don't go telling me, we'll be in charge forever. All nations lose their power. I know I read a meme about someone saying, " What will historians be writing in 2100?"

Are We This Soft?

I seriously have been thinking about writing about the economy. Perhaps a series on what is going on......Trouble is, I write on economics,my readership literally goes into the toilet.

If I was just writing for myself, well, I'd only write on economics, perhaps British History, British politics. They've got a bigger mess going on right now than we do with the Musk/Trump cuss fight.......

No, I became amazed at the owner of Barstool getting out of control, cussing out one of his podcast hosts, for saying it was okay to tell Jewish jokes. He cussed is podcaster so much, I would have quit and walked out.

The owner, who in the past has done Asian, Black jokes, apparently draws a line when it is about Jews. He is Jewish....And don't give me well, the Jews...Yada, yada, yada....Try being a Christian in the Middle East, or China....Heck, most of the non-Western world...

Man, we are soft now.

Offended by about everything.......

Man, I am a " Duke's Mixture" of nationalities, including Coonass and Irish, and ain't nobody likes a good Coonass, or Irish joke more than me.

I grew up Southern Baptist and attended one of their seminaries. The good Lord knows I love a good Baptist joke, because, well, most of them are rooted in truth.

Hell, my favorite joke is a Baptist one....

Q-" Why do you always carry two Baptists when you go fishing?"

A-" Because if you only carry one, they'll drink all the beer."

I don't know anymore, we're just looking at something in today's world to be offended by.....

Flying Lawn Mower?

For those of you not keeping up with the war between Russia and Ukraine.....It seems Ukrain has blown up someplace between 20 and 41 of Russia's nuclear bombers. This is a major part of their nuclear defense.

These were in areas thousands of miles from Ukraine.

It seems drones were smuggled into Russia in what in Europe/England are called lorry trucks, the equivalent of what in the Southern U.S. we would call an 18-wheeler.

Then, using the Russian cell-phone service, the drones were flown from these trucks to the sites of the bombers and the drones, which were one-time suicide in nature crashed into the tires being used to camouflage the planes from high-tech of the modern world, causing the tires to be set ablaze, burning so hot, the wings on the planes melted off, causing fires to spread to the rest of the aircraft.

Experts are saying even if the Russian economy could afford it, would take 20+ years for Russia to rebuild aircraft to replace those that were destroyed.  Presently, the Russian economy is not in good shape. So, maybe 30-40 years?

Russia is not the only nation that should be waking up and paying attention. Large military items around the world are now proven to be easy targets, hugely expensive whilst being highly vulnerable, and conceivably obsolete in modern warfare. There's not a defense ministry around the world that shouldn't be studying Ukrainian military strategy and methodology. ( If this was not dreamed up first by a Western intelligence group and given to Ukraine....Say British intelligence...)

Think how vulnerable American B-52s and B-1 Bombers are now how exposed to terrorist attack by say Houthis from Yemen using as they have been described, " Flying Lawnmowers." ( Drones)

Trust me, terror groups are thinking about doing this to American military infrastructure.

And presently, so far, Russia has done nothing to respond.

It is Good?

So, we've been on the road for what seems like a long while now.

It's good to be home.

I don't know, we have problems here in SETX. I often wax philosophically about this area. And I often get frustrated with "here."

But, those pine tree are good to come home too.

We at least know how to cook rice. We are still for the most part, nice to folks.

Housing is still somewhat affordable. Then again, who else, but us would want to live here, and I am among the first to get upset with the thinking here, and yes, I am forever going to try and make people here realize that it is no longer 1952. And often our choices here are still stuck here.

And it is good to leave and see the other side, and yes, I encourage people to see the world. And for many of you, well, you need to go away.

Some to see and stay, others to see and decide, perhaps it's not that bad back home.

I don't know, the state is changing in certain areas, regions, so much, well they'll never be the same. They've become a California, a sanitized version of Texas, something so different their grandparents would not recognize it. And while we need to pull ourselves into 2025, stop hating so many other people, but on the other side of the coin, our ancestors would still recognize the place.

It's good to be home. As many of you know, I now walk with a cane. People here held the doors open for me yesterday, and I made sure I thanked them....In other places, we may as well be in New York and people, especially youth, about knock you down trying for whatever reason to be first in the door.....

And I thank you parents here for teaching your kids..... Yes sir, yes ma'am, holding doors especially for older folks. And I wonder if at some people that'll go away too?

It's good to be home....

You're Crazy! This is to Disillusioned Buna ISD Patrons

I had not planned to write today....Got up and the computer decided I need to listen to a mix of the singer Jewel and the band, Coldplay, a...
